I like the fresh sound the mic gives when recording vocals, and it leaves the voice of the rapper/singer in its natural sound. I think the se 2200a gives the best quality you can get for its price, and i would really recommend it for recording rap vocals.
I only used the SE Electronics SE1000 one time about a year or so ago. I used it to record lead vocals on a demo for another artist, not myself, as was engineering rather than performing. This is a mic on the lower end of the spectrum, but has a nice sound for something of this price. It's diaphragm is nice and large, holding the capsule stea...
Working in a home studio environment can often be a rough place as far as acoustics go, so right off the bat I was excited when I heard about the series of Reflexion Filters made by SE Electronics. After having success with the vocal one, I decided to try out the one made for instruments to see if it was any better or if it could he...
I've used a pair of the SE Electronics SE4 for recording in a home studio and was definitely happy with the sounds that I was able to get from them. I only used them for two applications during recording - one being for recording drum overheads and the other was for recording an acoustic guitar. I found that they worked great for getting a ste...
I've been using the SE Electronics TB 101 for about two years and while at first I didn't expect much from this piece of gear, I have definitely enjoyed using it. SE Electronics is best known for making microphones rather than mic pres, but they have done a great job here. While these aren't all that readily available, they can be found and do...
I've used the SE Electronics Titan a handful of times in a home studio setting and was overall pretty impressed with not only the sound of the mic but also with the cool look that it has. It is definitely something that will impress the clients which of course matters! The microphone has a nice and clean tone and is probably best suited for voc...
I've only used the SE Electronics Ribbon R-1 a few times for recording and I think I've used it enough to be able to say that I'm a fan of this mic. It has an interesting sound that isn't quite like any ribbon microphone out there because of the unique 'dynamic ribbon' capsule. I have used the mic on vocals and on electric guitar and have foun...
Overall, the SE Electronics Gemini II is a very impressive microphone. It has a stellar look and design and has the sound to back it up. It has an extremely warm and full sound while presenting a great deal of clarity and accuracy to everything that it is recording. I've primarily used the mic for recording vocals, but it is definitely capabl...
I've used the SE Electronics Reflexion Filter a bunch of times for recording both inside of a good room in a studio as well as in a room without any isolation or sound proofing. While it can do good things in the studio, I think where this really makes its money is in rooms that aren't acoustically treated. In both cases, it does a great job o...
